Double Digits!!

Sometimes it feels like the days are dragging by but other times it seems to fly! We hit double digits...10 weeks...1/4 of the way through the pregnancy....208 days until due date....but who is counting :)

I have noticed in the last few days that my pants are fitting a little more snug. By no means do I look pregnant but I am entering that awkward stage between looking normal and looking pregnant....so I just look fat!

Morning sickness has really subsided....every day I wake up and slowly get out of bed and tread very lightly just waiting for the nausea to hit but so far we are 5 days with no morning sickness...Hallelujah!!

Big news this week is we are starting to tell some of our friends. Everyone is SUPER excited for us! It makes everything feel real when we share the news! Lots of hugs, high fives, and a few tears (Cara, of course).

We are excited about our 11 week appointment next Monday and anxious to see what the doctor has to say....I will admit I feel like we cheated on her by paying for an elective ultrasound over the weekend. We may just leave that part out when she asks us how things are going :)

Growing.....

We had an ultrasound yesterday and Baby Groves is growing so much. We saw and heard a nice strong heartbeat of 169 bpm. It was the best feeling ever to hear it. Nick said it was his favorite part :)
I asked the ultrasound technician if that indicated a girl, (books I have read say a faster heartbeat is likely a girl) she shot me down and said there isn't much truth to that old wives tale. Darn!!

Baby G has little arm and legs and I am convinced we got a little wave. He/she was moving around like crazy! It was so fun to watch! We even got to take a DVD home of the ultrasound that I can't wait to show to our family.

I feel much less anxiety after yesterday.... I just know everything is going to be perfect!!

We spilled the beans!

We were so excited to share with our parents that we are expecting. Of course, everyone was super excited!! The dads say they don't want to know the sex of the baby in April but we are definitley finding out and I don't see how it will be kept a secret until September...sorry!

Right after telling my parents my mom pulled the cutest little OSU booties out. They are so tiny. I just keep looking at them. I love the little feet that will fit into those booties in 7 months.

I found these "common pregnancy questions" on a website and thought they would be fun to post the answers every few weeks to track the changes.
How far along? 9 weeks
Total weight gain: Only about 1/2 pound
Maternity clothes? nope
Stretch marks? No
Sleep:  No problem falling asleep (normally around 9pm) but wake up at least 2-3 times to use the restroom and then it is tough to go back to sleep.
Best moment this week:  telling our parents!
Miss Anything?  A glass of reisling sounds pretty good
Movement:  Apparently baby is moving around a lot in there but I can't feel a thing yet.
Food cravings:  Orange Juice....watermelon sounds good right this second.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  not any one thing....most things!
Gender:  ???
Labor Signs:  We aren't even close. :)
Symptoms:  Morning sickness, exhaustion, heartburn
Belly Button in or out? in
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy and anxious
Looking forward to: Our next appointment on March 5!

The last stop in Springfield was for sugar cookies....Yum!! Didn't have to twist Nick's arm to make this stop:)

Pretzels and Orange Juice

Once again, I am behind posting for week 8. My weeknights consist of dinner, a brief conversation with Nick, and bed by 8:30. I just don't have the energy to get on here to post. According to "What to Expect when you are expecting" the exhaustion faze will pass in the next few weeks.....then reappear in the third trimester.

This week I discovered that pretzels help with nausea and they are much tastier than saltines. The plan is to pick up the snack pack size bags and have one in my purse at all times....in addition to the raisins and granola bars i already carry. OJ is more delicious than I ever remembered. I want it every morning. This is unfortunate for Nick when we don't have any....he is headed to McDonald's as I type this for a breakfast sandwich and a large OJ. It's not really a wacky craving, like pickles and chocolate ice cream but it's what I want....and it's healthy!

I am trying REALLY hard to control my overwhelming urge to shop. Some days I have more control than others. This week I was at Kohl's and they were having a fantastic sale....plus I had a coupon for 20% off. This is how I justify my purchases in my mind. I found two of the cutest Christmas outfits for 70% off. They are gender neutral because they are both red and green and ended up being under $3 each! I just couldn't walk away....

This is a 3-piece outfit and the stocking on the pants actually goes on the back but I wanted you to see it. Nick thinks it is a little more girly....so we may have to replace the cute fleece pants with little jeans or something. This  looks really big but it only 3 months.....if nothing else, the bib is adorable!

Big Week!!!

Baby Groves is growing so much. Hands and feet are emerging from the little arms and legs and the eyes already have some color. Morning sickness continued this week but I have learned that eating a few saltines before crawling out of bed helps a little. I also have started carrying snacks with me. I can be found with raisins, granola bars, or a banana at any given time.

We went back to the doctor on Thursday. I was so nervous I could have thrown up (not the morning sickness) or burst into tears. Nick was holding my hand as Baby Groves appeared on the screen. Baby is measuring right on  track at 7 weeks 3 days (as of Thursday).  Dr. Kedar found the heartbeat immediately....it was the most amazing moment! Then she gave Nick a scare when she said, "there is ONE heartbeat......and.....I am just going to take a few pictures...." HA!!! He told her that he thought she was going to point out a second heartbeat....we all had a good laugh as the color re-appeared in Nicks face. He said his heart stopped for a brief second at the thought of twins.  She promised to choose her words more carefully next time.

After our appointment we both had to go back to work. This was near impossible when all I wanted to do was go to Babies R' Us and roam the aisles. I managed to make it to 5pm but did make a quick stop at Target for a cute "gender neutral" outfit for Baby Groves.

Here is our ultrasound picture from this weeks appointment. Looks a little like a baby penguin....although I am pretty sure that will change!! HA!

6 Weeks and Morning Sickness

I am a little late posting our 6 week update because I sleep every free second I have. I am just exhausted all the time! In addition to going to bed at 8:30 every night morning sickness has set in.
My first encounter with the nausea happened at a client meeting...great timing....I was standing over a table full of bagels and breakfast pastries when it hit me! I am sure the aroma of food helped trigger it but I suddenly was weak in the knees, sweating, and ready to make a beeline for the bathroom. I held it together for about 2 minutes when I had to excuse myself and dart to the ladies room. (Side note....all ladies restrooms should have a sofa for women with morning sickness. That little blue couch saved my life that day).
Luckily, the wave of nausea quickly passed and I was able pull myself together without much attention from co-workers. Like clockwork, I have experienced the same thing, same time, every day for the last 5 days. Saltines help a little but I am on the hunt for other tricks to help settle my stomach until the feeling passes.
We are excited to go back to the doctor next week and see the growth and progress Baby Groves has made in 2 weeks. We also will get to see and possibly even hear the heartbeat at our appointment. It will be a very exciting day!!!
