Boy or Girl???

We debated rescheduling this appointment after the crazy week but we have been anticpating finding out if baby Groves is a boy or girl since we find out we were pregnant....so Nick helped pull me out of bed (literally, he has to pull me up) and I showered for the first time in 5 days. By the time I got myself dressed and ready to go, I was already exhausted....and excited!!!

Baby G was moving around a lot. Everything measured perfectly....in fact, one day ahead. Here are some of the great pictures we got....
Head is turned a little away from us so it isn't a great profile shot but you can see how much Baby G has grown. The tech said baby is 6 inches all stretched out.

Great shot of the hand....Nick said it has long skinny fingers like it's mama....piano lessons someday maybe??

After what seemed like a LONG ultrasound but was probably only 5-10 minutes she gave us the news!!!

And here is "the shot" that tells it all.....

She was very cooperative and let us see everything we needed to see :) Then she rolled over and put her back to us....the show was over and she was done! Once again, stubborn like her mother!

Although I wasn't really feeling well enough for the marathon shopping trip I had mapped out, we did swing by Babies R' Us on the way home to buy a few pink things!

We needed a few "daddy" items...Nick was a little in shock at first. He said he never really considered the fact it could be a girl. He was convinced it was a boy because of so many generations of Groves boys....I guess we broke the mold. He will be such a great dad to a baby girl. She will have him wrapped around her tiny baby fingers :)

Pink baby Uggs were on sale for $6 and I couldn't resist! I love little baby socks and shoes...they are so tiny and if this baby girl is anything like her mother she will have a serious love for shoes!!
We are SO, SO excited to welcome our baby girl this fall. I love that we can refer to her as a "she" and not an "it". It makes everything very real! Let the planning begin......

14 weeks is a blur....

I am a little behind posting for week 14 since it flew by! Monday night Nick rushed me to the ER because I was having terrible stomach pains...pain that had me bent over unable to breath. After 14 hours in the ER, I was admitted to OSU Medical Center and scheduled for gallbladder surgery Wednesday morning. My white blood count was very high and indicated infection was setting in and they saw 4 small gallstones....apparently the smaller the more dangerous because they can squeeze into small places and cause pain.
The doctors were wonderful. They consulted my OB and assured us that the second trimester was the best and safest time to have surgery. I was scared to death!!! Wednesday morning I had my gallbladder removed and came through surgery just fine. They said it was really bad and really needed to come out. They monitored the baby before and after surgery and we always had a strong heartbeat. The surgeon decided to keep me an additional night just to monitor me and baby and make sure the anesthesia had all worn off.
Thursday afternoon I came home and slept so good for the first time in days...hospitals are not the place to rest since they wake you up every 2 hours to take your vitals, draw blood, offer you jello, or some other annoying reason.
We are home and healing. Feeling a little better everyday but still moving around pretty slowly. Nick has been wonderful. I am SO lucky to have him!!

We had anticipated this week being a big exciting week since we were learning baby Groves gender but I don't think anyone thought it would be this kind of BIG week!! It sure did make the time go fast though.....

So we decided to make the official facebook announcement today....now all 600 of our closest friends know that we are adding to our family. We were hesitant to share at first but it was really fun to read all the congratulations messages and well wishes.

Second Trimester...yay!!

I am so excited and feel so blessed to be entering the second trimester of this pregnancy. I had a few rough days last week of unexpected morning sickness but I am hoping that my energy will return and morning sickness will start to fade.

Baby Groves is the size of a peach now....ironic since I am currently eating peach yogurt. Fingerprints have formed on tiny fingertips and teeth buds are starting to form....so crazy isn't it? Considering we won't see baby teeth for at least another 18 months!

I had been craving a fruity popsicle this week ever since I spotted a toddler with one at the zoo.  When I went to the grocery store yesterday I picked up a box...and couldn't even wait to get home to enjoy it:) I had another one later that afternoon.....I did get sugar free so I don't feel too guilty for indulging!

I found the cutest thing this week online. It is a MUST HAVE for the Groves house. I can't wait to get it and put it on our cute little son or daughters head....especially since they will be arriving smack in the middle of OSU football season.

I don't know if I notice much difference this week in the growing baby bump....on Friday I felt huge. I think there are days when I feel more bloated than others. I am finding it harder and harder to "suck in".

We have a baby bump!

Is it me or does 12 weeks sound much more pregnant than 11 weeks?? It makes me think 3 months pregnant...which makes me say.... hello second trimester!
We are so happy to have finally announced that we are expecting to the world. Including my boss, who was amazing and super excited. I was a little nervous to tell her since I have only been working there 7 weeks (you do the math). We sent the announcement cards to our family and close friends. I wish I could have been in every single house when everyone opened their mail :)

I am feeling pretty good...still experiencing morning sickness randomly. One day I am good the next I am standing over the toilet! We are soooo excited to find out if baby Groves is a boy or girl. The big day is March 31 and it can't come soon enough. I made the appointment in the morning so we have all day to shop after we find out if we will be buying pink or blue.

Baby Groves is the size of a plum. This week is a big week for the reflexes. Opening and closing of fingers and the toes can curl. Baby looks human by now but really tiny....lots of growing going on in the there the next 6 months. Speaking of growing....we have developed a baby bump!!

Don't mind the "no shower, no makeup" look I am rocking. It was Sunday and I was enjoying a lazy day :)

11 Weeks!!

Four weeks is an eternity in between doctors appointments in the first trimester...or maybe any "mester" for that matter. I was so excited for our doctors appointment Monday afternoon, only to have it canceled because my OB had a family emergency. After sulking  and whining to Nick for a few minutes the guilt set in as I realized I am being very selfish and feel terrible that the doctor I adore is going through a tough time. Reminder....doctors have lives too!
I quickly persuaded the sweet receptionist to fit me into any time slot the next day with any doctor available.
Today we went for our appointment and got to meet another doctor in the practice. Probably not a terrible situation since depending on when Baby Groves decides to come he could be the doctor delivering. I did learn that if baby picks a Tuesday, I will for sure get my regular doc for delivery :)
Everything looked great! Strong heartbeat of 160bpm, good blood pressure, and weight gain of 1 pound (with heels on).  Doctors instructions were to "keep doing what you are doing, baby is great". YAY!!!
How far along? 11 weeks 1 day
Total weight gain: 1 pound
Maternity clothes? nope-but noticing normal clothes are getting snug
Stretch marks? No
Sleep:  Sleeping well most nights...excited to start using the giant boppy maternity pillow that Kelli bought me. I think I will name it :)
Best moment this week:  Hearing the heartbeat again today!
Miss Anything?  Caffeine!!
Movement:  strange bubbles....possibly gas! ha!
Food cravings:  Nothing special this week. I am on a yogurt kick!
Anything making you queasy or sick:  McDonald's Fish Fillet didn't stick with me long yesterday...gross, sorry!
Gender:  Any guesses?
Labor Signs:  We aren't even close. :)
Symptoms:  Exhausted, slight nausea...but it is much better.
Belly Button in or out? in
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Finding out the sex at the end of the month!

Two of my new favorite purchases....This baby is going to be so loved by its Aunt and Uncles :)

Figured it out!

I have been asked how you can comment on the updates we post each week...I thought I had it set up correctly but recently learned I didn't.
It should be easy now! You just click the comment link at the bottom of the post you want to comment on. Type in your comment and you can either anonymously post or type in your name. They are the bottom two options. Then you must verify you are a person, not a robot....Hey, I don't make the rules....that is what is says! Then you can  publish your post:)

Hope that helps!
